It's Garden Party time, how to repel those un-invited guests!
There's something really lovely about a summer garden party.
Long afternoons in the warm air, dappled summer sun under trees, ice cool drinks, a little background music, nibbles galore, chatting and laughing with friends, and then the dreaded FLIES!!!! arghhhh those pesky stubborn airborn guests drive us crazy!
Living in the SW of France, this problem is a regular problem every single summer, and over the course of last few years I've tried all sorts, obviously citronella candles (but I hate the smell), copper pennies in a bowl of water (sounds strange but true), those swirly things you set alight (but the smoke isn't really condusive to relaxed outdoor entertaining) BUT this summer I've cracked it!!
So quite simply, collect up all your empty jam jars or glass vases, a handful of lemons and limes and some lavender essential oil, which I bought at my local chemist for £5.
Slice the lemons and limes and arrange in pots, fill with water and add 20 drops of lavender oil in each pot. For a casual lunch I finished off the pots with some sisal string. Et voila!
Fairwell my buzzy pesky guest!!!
