The PERFECT Dinner Party Dessert

So over the last few months, this dessert is by far my favorite dinner party dessert. Trust me, it gets rave reviews!!

If you ever thought a chocolate torte was too complicated, this recipe is super quick, just follow the recipe and it will never ever fail!

It's dark, very squidgy and one cake can serve 8/10, easily! But it has the perfect mix of richness and chocolatelyness without feeling you need to snooze! I don't even eat chocolate (allergy) and I cook this time after time, just for the reactions!

I've made this as one torte or smaller individual ones and some cute icing sugar dusting makes it looks fabulous!

So you will need the following ingredients:

200g butter

200g of the very best dark chocolate (this is a very cheap dessert to make, so don't economise on the chocolate)

4 large eggs

100g caster sugar

100g golden caster sugar

50g plain flour, sifted

50g ground almonds

Icing sugar for dusting

Pre-heat the oven to 180c.

Butter and line the base and side of loose bottomed 23cm cake tin, or just just use tin foil, which I have done the last couple of times and works perfectly. If you prefer individual, use small quiche dishes 10/12 cm dia to make 6 very generous portions, line these too.

Timing is everything with this recipe, ie if you do it in the right order, it takes about 10 minutes to make!!! Ta Da

So get your pan of water with a bowl ontop on the boil first before you do anything. Put all the butter and chocolate in until melted.

Using an electric whisk, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy, say 5 minutes, it should turn light cream and very fluffy!

Pour the butter & chocolate mix into the egg & sugar mixture, and fold it in, be careful and use a spatula. Fold in the flour, almonds and pinch of salt.

Pour into your prepared tin, no need to fiddle, it will settle and find its level.

Bake for 35 minutes (25mins if individual tortes), you should see that the cake has risen and has a crust. Do Not remove the torte from the tin until totally cool! You can refridgerate after cooling. This torte is gooey and moist so don't bother with a skewer but refrigerating it will help solidify it. But please be patient and leave it in the tin!

Remove from the fridge 30 mins before serving and dust. Serve with fabulous vanilla ice cream or alcohol soaked cherries!! Oh lala
