So I'm not one to be a supermarket snob...but, I have to put my hands up and say that until recently I had actually never been into a Lidl!
If you need to send abusive messages, it's ok, I put my hands up!
So after a most fruitful shop and inspired to cook a special but ever so quick lunch, here is my Lidl surprise!
All you need for the tart is:
1 roll of savoury puff pastry
1 roll of President goats cheese
1 pack of smoked bacon lardons
a few pieces of any blue cheese
3 raw beetroots
Salt & pepper & oil oil
Pre-heat the oven to 190c.
On an oven tray, roll out the pastry and cook blind for 10 mins
Slice the beetroot & goats cheese, and arrange on the pastry. Sprinkle with blue cheese, bacon & thyme. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt & pepper and bake until the goats cheese bubbles!
I am always one to save on washing up, so I just half a cucumber and one carrot, used a veg peeler to create ribbons, dressed the salad and then piled it on top! Washing up saved!
Let it cool for 5 mins and then add the salad.
This tart would serve 4 as a starter. If you don't add the bacon, this tart makes a great starter for vegetarians at Christmas too.
